"I am not convinced that that would be the case, John. It has never been written anywhere that Egypt could be overthrown if the temple were destroyed and myself and Saska killed. I believe that it would rather be the case that the enemies of our country would be destroyed. The Triaxial Power is complex to understand and even I do not have full understanding of it. My understanding of the power makes me believe that it can be used in 2 ways, to destroy, or to protect. It may be that the power is taken into me when the temple is destroyed, and, upon my death is released along the Triaxial lines to the 3 temples of the power where it will be used in the way it is needed." Paul replied.
"If that is so, then there would be no further protection against attack." One of the tribesmen said. Paul nodded, "That maybe so, but if the power were to be used to destroy our enemies, then there would be no further need of it. The full secrets of the power are contained within the book of the Triaxial Temple. I have not revisited the temple since it was hidden from the outside world for fear of it being used as the main point for attack upon Egypt. When that happened I had not reached half way through the book and so, do not know what will happen if I destroy the temple. However, let us move away from this conversation. Tell me, how is Saska?" Paul replied. Marie walked into the room. "Saska has been released of her service. She was so badly wounded, that we wondered whether Bast would release her." She said.
"They were cowards that set upon us today. Saska weakened yearly, after the birth of her daughter and being forced to give her up. I believe that she did not want to continue in her service after that. I do not know what happened to her daughter, except that she was adopted by a couple in Saska's home country, Britain." Paul replied. Marie looked shocked, "Who else knew about this? If those men who beset you today found out, they would seek out her daughter and kill her. Did Saska ever say who the father was?" She asked. Paul nodded. "She told me who the father was, but I would not reveal it to anyone, but her daughter, and she told no one else about the child. When her daughter was given up for adoption, we told them that we had found the child left at the gate of the courtyard. We could have brought the child up in the temple, but what can you learn if that is all you know?" He replied. "Saska told me to seek out her successor if she were killed today. When I go to my rest, it will be her daughter I look for, as she will be Saska's true successor. She would have sought her out this year, but, that chance for her has gone." He continued. Marie turned away and walked from the room. John turned to Paul. "You would still go to your rest this year, with everything that is going to happen?" He asked. Paul nodded, "You and Marie will leave the worship of Isis, as you did last time, out of compassion for you staff. Ademus will let the invaders walk all over his temple, as he has no love for Amun-Ra, the temple of Anubis will fight them as they resisted last time. It will be my temple where the turning point comes. You know that I would not desert Bast, even if I was ordered to by the goddess herself. I can not explain why, for I do not know. It may be that the balance of power swings at my temple back towards the 3 temples of the Triaxial Power. If that is so, we must prepare for battle. It will be a long time coming, and may not even be from the French that currently seek to destroy us." He replied. "If a battle is to be fought, then my men will be ready to fight for the Triaxial Power." The leader of the tribesmen said. Paul turned towards him, "The loyalty of you and your men to our temples can never be brought into question Saeed. We may have need of your services before the battle and I ask you to be ready at all times." He replied. Saeed nodded and led his men from the room. John turned and followed them, leaving Paul on his own. Leaning against the wall, Paul thought back to the day when Saska's daughter had been born. How many lies had he just told to the others to cover up the truth?
